Jay McDonald started making wine in 1998, three years after he founded The Tasting Room in Carlton, which remains one of the best places to taste a range of great Willamette Valley wines.
All the wines are made in a minimal intervention, natural method. This means natural yeasts, nothing added during vinification, and intense attention and care for each barrel.
Jay’s makes both single-vineyard and multi-vineyard blends of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from vineyards he has long-term contracts with. The vineyards practice sustainable farming in keeping with Jay’s general philosophy, and a number are practicing organic.
